“Whoever is faithful in small matters will be faithful in large ones; whoever is dishonest in small matters will be dishonest in large ones.” Luke 16:10 (GNT)
We often think leadership is forged in life's biggest moments—the crisis, the promotion, the opportunity everyone notices. But Jesus teaches something very different. Leadership isn't built in the spotlight. It's built in the quiet moments when no one is watching.
Integrity is revealed in the small, unseen, everyday choices. It's choosing honesty when a lie would be easier. It's keeping your word even when it costs you. It's doing the right thing when there's no applause, no recognition, and no reward.
That's where God develops faithfulness. And, he sees all of those little moments when you choose to do the right thing… even when no one else does.
Jesus said, “Whoever is faithful in small matters will be faithful in large ones; whoever is dishonest in small matters will be dishonest in large ones” (Luke 16:10 GNT).
God doesn't wait until you've been given great responsibility before he tests your character. He uses the little things to prepare you for the bigger things.
The way you handle today's responsibilities reveals whether you're ready for tomorrow's opportunities.
Whether it's managing your finances, showing up on time, following through on a commitment, serving faithfully behind the scenes, or treating people with kindness when no one else notices, every small act of obedience matters to God.
Our culture often separates public success from private character. But God never does.
The character you build when no one is watching is the character that will sustain you when everyone is watching.
That's why the little things are never really little, especially if you're a parent (a lot of parenting in the early years can feel thankless). But, truly, every little moment is an opportunity to honor God, grow your character, and prepare for the future he has planned for you.
Today, ask yourself: Am I being faithful with what God has already placed in my hands? If you are faithful in the small things, God knows he can trust you with more.
