Seminole Community Outreach

Ministry doesn't just happen within the four walls of our church. God calls each and every one of his followers to minister to others in our workplaces, our homes and in our communities.

Here are some of the ways Seminole Church is currently serving our local community. Sometimes we will do a one-time service project depending on the need in our community. If you'd like to volunteer or support any of these existing outreach initiatives, please email kristin@seminolechurch.com.

These our the regular Outreach Ministries at Seminole Church. If you're looking for areas where you can serve IN your church, CLICK HERE.

Seminole Music Lessons

Seminole Music Lessons offers scholarships for bass guitar, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, keys and drums. We believe giving kids and youth access to music lessons not only gives them an incredible life skill, but it could also be the catalyst to lead them into a worship band environment one day. We'd love every student who learns an instrument to be able to plug into and serve at a church wherever life takes them! This ministry is led by Joe Sharrow, one of our Worship Leaders here at Seminole Church.

How can you help? If you'd like to give toward the scholarship program, click the "Give Here" button below and select "Music Lesson Scholarships" in the drop down.

Counseling Scholarships

Here at Seminole Church, we offer counseling scholarships to people who need grief counseling, marriage counseling, mental health therapy and more.

How can you help? If you'd like to give to this ministry, please click below and select "Counseling Scholarship Fund" in the drop down.

Appliance Ministry

Our Appliance Ministry provides used appliances to people in our community. This ministry has served many single moms in the area, families within our church, and people who have never even heard of SCC who happened to find themselves with an emergency need.

How can you help? Donate your used appliances or let us know if you know someone in need! We take washers and dryers, refrigerators, stoves and dishwashers. Our Appliance Ministry Team is happy to pick up any used appliances directly from you when we have storage space available. Our team also repairs the appliances before we take them to a new home.

If you have an appliance that could be donated, please contact Kristin Sharrow at kristin@seminolechurch.com.

Children's Home Easter Baskets

We provide Easter Baskets for the teens who reside at the Methodist Children's Home in Deltona. This ministry was put on the heart of our Pre-School Director, Sarah, a few years ago and now the teens a tthe children's home look forward to this every year!

Want to help with Seminole Community Outreach's Easter Baskets? When Easter is close, check back here for a link to the registry. (Please only items from the registry, as they have specific needs and restrictions for the children's safety).

Easter Eggstravaganza

Every Easter our church throws a huge Easter Eggstravaganza with animal encounters, a family photo booth and chances to win additional prizes and gift cards. It's fun, but this event has a bigger purpose! We have seen many families who didn't have a church home get connected with SCC through the Easter Eggstravaganza.

How can you help? Volunteer and invite. We need your help to pull off an event like this! When Easter is getting close, look for a volunteer sign up. Also, invite your neighbors. You never know who is looking for a church or maybe God is at work in their lives. All it takes is an invitation.

Single Mom Gifts

Every Year on Mother's Day we honor moms. But, what you may not know is we give the single moms connected to Seminole Church a card with a small gift.

How can you help? You can donate to our outreach. Click the button below and select "SCO - Outreach" in the dropdown.

VBS & VBX

VBS is one of the best things we get to do as a church every year. We love getting to see kids have so much fun learning about Jesus. VBS is our Vacation Bible School program for children who are going into Kindergarten through going into 5th grade, and VBX is for students that are going into 6th grade through students going into 8th grade.

How can you help? Volunteer. We need over 100 volunteers to make VBS happen. When Summer approaches look for a VBS Volunteer form! It is one of the most rewarding things you can do with your time this summer.

Pregnancy Center Baby Bottle Campaign

Every year between Mother's Day and Father's Day we have a baby bottle drive to support the Sanford Pregnancy Center. How can you help? We'll provide you with a baby bottle for this campaign. You then fill it with change over the course of a few weeks and bring it back to us. We give all of the baby bottles to the Pregnancy Center to help support local moms and babies in need.

Support Our Teachers

At the beginning of August Seminole Community Outreach gives each teacher who attends SCC a small gift. In this gift, each teacher receives a gift card to help stock their classroom. But, even more importantly, they are given a second gift card to bless another teacher with who isn't connected to our church. The teachers giving out the gift cards get the credit and an opportunity to share God's love with another teacher that they work with.

How can you help? You can donate to Seminole Community Outreach to help purchase the gifts we give to teachers. Click the button below and select "SCO - Outreach" in the dropdown.

Bereavement Baskets

We have many nurses connected to our church, including Pastor Josh's wife, Katie Walsh. She works in high-risk pregnancies down at Advent Orlando, and saw a need for bereavement baskets, as nurses were going down to the gift shop on their lunch breaks to purchase gifts for moms experiencing loss to bring any comfort possible. When they run low on baskets at the hospital, we will have a registry open to donate items to put in these baskets. These baskets are then given to the nurses at Advent Orlando to then give to grieving mother's who have just experienced an unimaginable loss. When you help with this outreach initiative you are sharing the love of Jesus with a grieving family and with a nurse who is caring for that family.

Walk For Life Walk-a-Thon

In October, Seminole Community Outreach joins the Sanford Pregnancy Center in their Walk-For-Life. One of the best ways you can get involved with this Walk is by... walking! When you register to walk, you will get your very own pre-built fundraising page. Then, you can post your fundraising page to your social media platforms so that people can sponsor you! If you can't walk, that's okay. You can always sponsor our walking team. The money raised goes toward supporting mothers and babies right here in our community. The Pregnancy Center is a great resource for women experiencing an unplanned pregnancy.

Trunk-R-Treat

Our Annual Trunk-R-Treat event is a big deal in our community! Kids can come, dressed up and safely enjoy decorated trunks, a petting zoo, a family Photo Booth, immersive decorated walk-through experiences and TONS of candy! But, there's always a bigger purpose behind our fun events. We have seen many families who didn't previously have a church home get connected with SCC through Trunk-R-Treat.

How can you help? Host a trunk! Your warm and welcoming interaction with someone could be just what they need to feel comfortable coming to church and learning about Jesus. Plus, this is a great event to get to know fellow SCC members on a deeper level.

Thanksgiving Meal Drive

Every Thanksgiving Seminole Community Outreach has a goal to provide Thanksgiving Meals for 25 families in our community. This initiative is coordinated by Michele Davis, one of our Worship Band members.

How can you help? You can pick up a Thanksgiving Bag in November under the Next Steps Tent (out front). These bags have a shopping list attached so that you can go shopping, fill the bag and then bring it back to us. These Thanksgiving bags will be delivered to a family in need.

Christmas Village

Christmas Village is by far the largest event at Seminole Church all year, and it takes place on several evening ins December. We have a Santa take photos with kids, but you know, as always, this event serves a bigger purpose. Christmas Village has connected many unchurched families to SCC, as well as get many new people to our Christmas Eve services where they hear the Gospel Message of Jesus and accept Jesus for the first time, AMEN! More families get connected here at SCC through Christmas Village than any other event we do.

So, how can you help? From cooking and serving food to helping with games, prizes or crafts, to monitoring s'more stations or helping with face painting, there are many opportunities to serve. Volunteering for Christmas Village is a great way to serve our community AND to get to know and grow closer to your church family!

We have over 250 volunteer positions to fill over several nights, so whether you can serve one or multiple nights, we need your help!

Open Door Haiti Toy Drive

Every year, during the holiday season, we partner with Open Door Haiti to bring joy and the love of God to children in Haiti who are connected with ODH's school and orphanage.

In the past, we have done this through Hope Boxes. This year, we have created a gift registry to provide each child a gift that ODH has suggested as the most meaningful to the children of Haiti. For many of these kids, this is the ONE gift they get all year.

Benevolence

Our Benevolence Fund exists to assist those who find themselves in an emergency need. Sometimes we can support someone with a physical or financial need through our Benevolence Fund.

How can you help? If you'd like to give toward the Benevolence Fund, click the "Give Here" button below and select "Benevolence Support" in the drop down.

"The Church should do something about that."

Guess what, YOU are the church!

And, we agree!

If God has put something on your heart, you should do something about that. We want to encourage you that, you don't have to be a pastor to minister to others. In fact, we believe that every member here at Seminole Church is a minister.

If you are passionate about a particular need, reach out to us and let us know how we can support you. Sometimes we can partner with you for a one-time outreach project, other times we can add your outreach to our regular outreach schedule, and often times we can direct you to another trusted ministry that has the infrastructure already in place to meet the need you are interested in meeting (this often applies in disaster relief).

Remember, YOU are the church.

We are here to pray with you, support you and partner with you.

Together we can reach our community, meet needs and love people into a relationship with Jesus. That is the goal.
