Did you know that you don’t have to end your prayers with “In Jesus’ name. Amen”? In fact, you don’t have to stop praying at all.
Prayer is a running conversation with God. It never has to end! How does that actually look, though? You can't just sit in a prayer closet all day long and avoid your responsibilities. What does "praying without ceasing," look like?
In the car. When you're cooking dinner. In your cubicle. While you're rocking a baby. When you're texting. When your kid is having their 10th meltdown. In a business meeting. On a walk... any moment of time, you can be praying.
When you receive Christ into your heart, you become a child of God and have the privilege of talking to Him in prayer at any time about anything.
You are invited to talk to him like you would a friend or a loving father. If something comes up, you talk to God about it. You don’t have to stop what you’re doing and close your eyes every time you pray. You simply talk to God as you go about your day.
In 1 Thessalonians 5:17 we read, “Pray without ceasing.” Our whole life should be a life of prayer. We should walk in constant communion with God.
To pray conversationally, you simply talk to God about whatever you’re interested in at that particular moment. You don’t have to have flowery words. You just talk… as you go.
“Hey Lord, help me with this work task. Give me the mental clarity to get through this meeting.”
“Thank you, God, for this beautiful morning.”
"God, I need some energy right now. I am tired."
“Lord, what should I do here?”
“Wow, God, you have blessed me in this area. Thank you. I don’t take it for granted.”
“God, how should I respond to this text?”
“Lord, I need your help right now.”
"God, please give me patience."
“Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion” (Ephesians 6:18 NLT). That means you can talk to God anywhere, anytime, about anything, as the Spirit leads. When God puts something on your heart, pray about it!
