“Look at the birds! They don't worry about what to eat—they don't need to sow or reap or store up food—for your heavenly Father feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than they are.”—Matthew 6:26 (TLB)
This example about the birds is from Jesus. Birds don’t worry. They simply do what God created them to do, trusting that their heavenly Father will provide.
If God takes such careful notice of the smallest sparrow, how much more does He care for you?
A lot of people say they trust God. But, if the second things go wrong you start to worry more than you pray, that’s not really trusting God.
Worry, at its core, is forgetting that God is both able and willing to take care of us. It sneaks in when we shift our focus from Christ to our circumstances.
But peace comes when we reverse that—when we keep our eyes on Him, the One who never fails. Isaiah 26:3 promises, “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”
The moment we fix our thoughts on Christ instead of our anxieties, the noise of the world quiets. The concerns that once pressed so heavily begin to lose their grip, and God’s “perfect peace” fills our hearts.
The truth is simple but life-changing: God has already taken responsibility for our care. We don’t have to live in constant fear, stress, or anxiety. Like the birds, we can rest under the loving watch of our heavenly Father, confident that He knows what we need and will provide in His perfect timing.
So, the next time worry rises up within you, take a moment to pause, breathe, and look up. Notice the birds. Let them remind you that if God cares for them, He surely cares for you.
What burden or worry are you holding onto today that you need to hand over to your heavenly Father?
I encourage you to pray this prayer today: Father, thank You for reminding me through Your creation that I am deeply cared for. Help me to release my worries over to you and rest in Your faithful love. Help me to focus on you rather than my worries. Teach me to trust You more each day, so that my heart may be filled with Your perfect peace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
