Job 42:2 says, “I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.
No one or thing can thwart God’s plans and purposes. The decisions of people in power can’t mess up God’s plan. The schemes of the enemy can’t derail his plans.
This should bring us comfort even on a personal level, because that means our own shortcomings can’t mess up God’s ultimate plan.
Nothing can thwart his plans.
“Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” Proverbs 19:21
If it’s God’s Will, it’s going to happen. God can even turn bad things into good to accomplish his plans. Only he can do that.
I love this quote form Joseph in Genesis: “You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.” Genesis 50:20
Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers, falsely imprisoned, and still God used what was meant for evil for good.
God’s plans prevailed. They always do. And, God’s plan in your own life will prevail. He can use the bad in your life, your mistakes, your past, your hurts, your hardships, your shortcomings, your weaknesses… and he can use them to accomplish his purpose.
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
Now, just because God’s plan is going to prevail no matter what, doesn’t mean you can’t MISS God’s plan for your life. You can miss out on being involved in God’s plan. He doesn’t need you to accomplish his purpose… but he INVITES you to be a part of it. Do you want to be a part of God’s plan and purpose?
How do you join in on God’s plan? You make a choice. This is a choice everyone can make. You don’t have to be special, you just make a choice. You choose to make Jesus Lord over your life. You give God the keys. You resign as CEO of your life, and you choose to follow him. Day by day.
He isn’t going to reveal his plans to you in one long spread sheet. He usually reveals his plan to us in pieces, so that we have to trust him. But, day by day, choose his way, not your way. Commit to him.
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans” (Proverbs 16:3 NIV).
Reading his Word and spending time with him will also help you clarify what he is calling you to do on a daily basis, because you will begin to know his character and his voice.
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
