Choosing to Get Right with God Today

February 28, 2024

Transformation is a process. Becoming more like Jesus is a process. But, “getting right” with God doesn’t have to be a process. You can actually accomplish that before you're finished reading this devotion, if you choose to.

You see, we don’t have to “work” to get back into a relationship with him. It’s not a “get your life together” THEN turn to him kind of process. We must simply repent (which literally means “to change your mind” and turn toward God). And, you can do that… right now. You don’t have to wait. You don’t have to go through a process to turn back to God.

Yes, following God and becoming more like Jesus is a process. But getting right with him is immediate.

So many of us are waiting to “get right with God.” What are we waiting for? To have better behavior? Don’t you need his help to do that? Why do we wait?

God has made himself available to you 24/7 through his son, Jesus.

Instead of waiting to get right with him, why don’t you take a moment right now and pray. Tell him you’re sorry you weren’t following his will and his purpose for your life. Ask him for forgiveness (which he promises to forgive anyone who asks) and tell him you choose to follow him. Then, ask him to help you do that.

That’s it. Don’t wait until you have your “ducks in a row.” That can't happen without his help anyway.

"For it is from God alone that you have your life through Christ Jesus. He showed us God’s plan of salvation; he was the one who made us acceptable to God; he made us pure and holy and gave himself to purchase our salvation." 1 Corinthians 1:30 (TLB)

You didn't earn God’s acceptance. God freely gave it to you. He alone made it possible for you to be in Christ Jesus. And Jesus is the one who made you acceptable to God.

Yes, God works on us through the process of transformation. But, there are no hoops for you to jump through to get right with him this very second, thanks to Jesus Christ.

Run to the Father.
